Question by It’s a girl due 5/11/09: What did you write in your pregnancy journal?
I am 12 weeks now and still am not sure exactly what I should be writing in my pregnancy journal. What did you put in yours?

Answer by Groovy
I started one, then I got bored with it. I’m not much of a writer. Just put in your thoughts, concerns, happy times, doctor visits, baby movements, tummy growth…if its online, you can post ultrasounds, tummy pictures, etc.

Pregnancy Journal : A Family Memoir

The body, if you monitor carefully, helps you know the moment you are pregnant. The most common early sign of pregnancy can be deciphered even before you realize that you have missed the period or doing a pregnancy test on the home pregnancy kit. Pregnancy is one of the happiest moments for any woman, a moment when she feels blessed and part of creation. She wants to share this joy with her family and friends. What better way can be there for sharing this experience? A pregnancy journal or a personal diary is the best way to record your feelings, experiences to share this experience with your near and dear ones.
Your personal pregnancy journal

Your journal or a diary is the place where you express and record all the important things experienced by you in the course of your pregnancy. It keeps track of all your feelings, moments of joys or pain. It is your best friend, with whom you share your thoughts, hopes and dreams of the future. It keeps a record of your day-to-day happenings. You learn more about the world that surrounds you; every mundane experience too becomes a moment of learning.

If you maintain the pregnancy journal consistently, you will learn to get more focused on your condition and getting comfortable with long wait of nine months before you get to see and touch your baby. It helps you in bonding and developing strong maternal bonds with the baby, who is still a mass of cells, gradually taking shape of your dreams. The cheerfulness and brightness that a pregnancy journal manages to generate becomes contagious with everything and everyone. Being happy and enjoying the moments of pregnancy is the best medicine for all the annoying changes happening within your body.

Pregnancy journal brings about a subtle change in your perspective. You view the world in a positive manner and respond accordingly. It helps you overcome the irritability, short temperedness due to fluctuating hormones. It helps you in overcoming low esteem due to heavy body weight and frumpy figure. Pregnancy journal increases the knowledge of self and helps in creativity. It simplifies the days, making you patient and less anxious for the big day. Fill up your pregnancy journal with the recordings of the most common earliest pregnancy symptoms such as:

Change of basal body temperature through ovulation and through the expected date of next periods. Light spotting, bleeding and yellowish vaginal discharge. It takes place 4-5 days after conception, when the embryo implants itself to the uterine wall. Frequent urination. Fatigue during the early stages of pregnancy as hormone levels change. A missed period dates and discovery of the first pregnancy. All these recordings become archive material and are a handy help for recognizing signs of pregnancy during subsequent pregnancies. It is a valuable tool of incredible information and feelings experienced in your first pregnancy.

Pregnancy Planner Review by Laura M. for My Pregnancy Journal
I bought this journal in my 7th month of pregnancy and I wish I had it much, much sooner! The book takes you through each of your months and has prompts so that you record important information about the pregnancy. Each page has an area to write on the left-side and a place for a photo on the right. As I was going through it, I started remembering all of these cool moments from my pregnancy that I was able to capture on the page. I think I would have forgotten a lot of those events and moments had I not written them down in this book – so I’m really thankful to have had it.

I just wish that I had purchased it at the beginning of my pregnancy, so that I could capture moments as they happened. Because I had to go back and fill out months 1-7 all at once, it took quite a while to do it. Good thing I finished that before the kid came!

I loved this book at first sight, everything is so sweet, I think I misread the description when buying it, I really thought there was information about pregnancy on every month, but there isn’t, but its so nice you can write things about your past, your family, your thoughts, and everything you want about your pregnancy, and paste pictures month by month, this book comes with small picture frames for each picture page, so its very nice

I went to several bookstores to look at different books in which to document my pregnancy and I by far liked “My Pregnancy Journal” the best (and I of course purchased on Amazon to save $$$). It has pages to write what you’re going through in pregnancy, what your hopes are for your baby, and also reflective pages after each trimester to document feelings.

It has many pages for pictures – everything from you at each month to a picture of your favorite maternity outfit. It also comes with photo borders to frame each picture in the book so that they look more elegant.

I think my favorite thing about this book is that it has another book in the series – “My Baby Journal” – that documents the first three years of baby’s life, so everything from pregnancy through toddler stage will be documented in a matching set of books.

I didn’t journal per say, but found it really great to blog. Plus, this helped keep distant relatives informed on the “latest”. I blogged about the first kicks I felt, different products I was looking at, updates to the nursery, baby shower info, etc. At 12 weeks I talked a lot about how horrible morning sickness was, at 16 weeks how happy I was over it, etc.

I kept a journal during my first pregnancy. I wrote information about prenatal visits, weight gain, morning sickness, exciting moments (baby moving, ultrasound, baby shopping, etc), what I was looking forward to doing w/ my baby.. basically anything that came to my mind.. thoughts, feelings & concerns about the pregnancy. Have fun!

I loved my pregnancy journal, and now it is so fun to look at! I wrote any new symptom I was feeling, my cravings, my weight, what happened at each doc appointment, etc. Another fun thing is to measure your belly every week…mine got to 5 foot around! Make sure you write in it often, because after the baby comes you tend to forget those 9 months!
