Question by estofik: What do I put in a Pregnancy Journal and Baby Journal?
I am creating my own pregnancy journal and I just need some opinions on what I should put into it. This journal is also going to used for the baby for the first couple years. If there is anything that you have had in pregnancy journal or what you think would be cool when they get older.

Answer by Aliyah’s mommy! 3 weeks left
Well, I made mine without any of those ‘guidance’ things. I just got a pretty journal and started writing. I’ve been writing since early second trimester and I’ve got 1/3 of the journal complete already.

I write everything from the firsts, doctors appointments, about her family, my dreams and fears for her, and everything I feel. I write about life before her, and how excited I am. I told her about wives tales I was told and her baby shower. ANYTHING!

Anyway, I LOVE to write so it comes easily to me, but you should write what comes to mind! Enjoy!

Pregnancy Journal – The Best Friend Of A Pregnant Woman

The best way to keep you updated with memories of your pregnancy is through a pregnancy journal. For those who are already enjoying their motherhood, sharing the personal benefits by keeping a pregnancy journal to others can prove to be extremely beneficial. Pregnancy journal or diary, allows oneself to analyze how pregnancy brought changes to their lives and what they learnt about themselves and also the environment in which they are living.

Pen Down Your Emotions:

Many would ask the question, why keep a journal at all? The reasons can be many. You can control your physical pain in a journal; you can give way to your creative talent in a journal and even have a record of your expenditures and so on. A pregnant mother can write so many things to her baby who has not seen the world yet in the pregnancy journal.

The best thing with pregnancy journal is that you can write anything, infact everything that has brought some changes in your life. You can write what you ate on a particular day or what you wore to flaunt your pregnancy. Everything that you think is important and forms an important aspect of your life can be penned down in a pregnancy journal. Pregnancy week by week reports can find an easy place in your pregnancy journal. There are so many changes taking place in your body. Feeling of dizziness in first week or cramps and back pins occurring frequently during trimester of pregnancy can be easily sited in your pregnancy journal.

For women who have a flair for writing maintaining a pregnancy journal will not be a big problem for them. Your first sign of pregnancy can really refresh your memories when you think of those wonderful days. Pregnancy is a wonderful experience and as a woman you should be proud of giving birth to a new life on earth. It is a fact that pregnancy is not a smooth journey. There are many unexpected happenings, joys, triumphs and days of continuous pain associated with pregnancy. Writing pregnancy health issues on a pregnancy journal can really help your emotions flow through the power of pen and onto the paper. Pregnancy journal can give you a much needed relief and outlets which even your near and dear ones sometimes cannot.

Pregnancy journal is the perfect outlet of emotions for every pregnant mother. Doctors will tell you to always remain happy during pregnancy. Your behavior can sometimes be very irrational and though not intentionally, hurt anyone near you. But with pregnancy journal, you can always trace down the cause of this irrational behavior later on. Remember, your interest to pen down everything on the pregnancy journal can be passed on to your children, as it a very interesting and healthy habit.

I bought Butterflies and Hiccups recently and I was really disappointed when it arrived. I am returning it becuase I really didn’t want to journal my pregnancy (e.g. symptoms, weight gain, etc.) as much as I wanted to have a journal for my future child to read about our life during the pregnancy, feelings about expecting him/her, etc., and our life before him/her.

Some of the “thought-provoking” questions in the book, such as “Was the conception of the baby memorable? Why or why not?” I thought might be kind of embarrasing for baby to read.

Most of the questions are just about recording the day-to-day symptoms of pregnancy, doctors appointments, weight gain, etc.

and the questions are standard month-to-month.

There is also not much room to write about any of the questions that are interesting. There is an extra blank space at the end of each month, but it really didn’t seem like a lot of room to write beyond the standard questions asked each month.

Again, I really didn’t want to document for my child the aches and pains of pregnancy — whether I got stretch marks and how much weight I gained. I do want to include pictures of how big my belly gets (which is a nice feature that they do have in the book), but don’t really want to share so many details about the bodily aspects of preganncy.

I was looking for something that does share some of the highlights of the pregnancy (e.g. when I found out, first movements, ultrasound, etc.), but mostly concentrate on feelings and recording our ‘story.’

If you are looking for something that really documents the symptoms of pregnancy, doctor’s appointments, etc., perhaps for recalling for subsequent pregnancies, then this book would be perfect for you.

Otherwise, I would keep looking.

I wanted a “pregnancy” journal to document key events during my pregnancy and found exactly what I was looking for in Butterflies & Hiccups. Initially, I considered a “daily” journal but in reviewing some of the pregnancy journals online, I was impressed with Butterflies & Hiccups. It is a “monthly” journal, which really turned out to be perfect… daily would have been overkill, especially since there are many days that pass where there’s really nothing to document. This journal has excellent preprinted questions as well a blank page for each month for documenting additional information, perhaps not covered by the preprinted questions. Each month, the journal covers topics such as changes/symptoms, doctor visits, and has a page for placing a photo to track pregnancy progress (and more).

It goes up to nine months then continues on to the “Birth” with a checklist of what to pack in the hospital bag, preprinted birth questions, a photo page for picture with baby, a page for baby info (name, date/time of birth, height/length, etc). It also contains a section to document the Baby Shower. The journal contains a ‘Baby Keepsake’ pocket, perfect for holding ultrasound pictures. There’s also an attached ribbon bookmarker so that you can go straight to the page where you left without having to flip through the journal… and it’s spiral bound. Highly recommended PREGNANCY journal… this is NOT a BABY journal.

I am the owner of Baby Gift Store.com and we couldn’t wait to add this wonderful pregnancy journal. I’ve yet to see anything similar and it is absolutely just beautiful.. both design wise and content wise. Butterflies and Hiccups is just full of intelligent and thought provoking questions to fascillitate the journaling of your pregnancy day by day and month by month. I also love that it has a keepsake pocket built into the font cover to hold any kind of little pregnancy momentos such as pictures of your sonograms. And, it doesn’t stop there…it also includes checklists for getting ready for the hospital, tips and suggestions for pregnant moms and places to paste photos. I also love that it is spiral bound to make writing easy. It’s so well thought out and will certainly be a forever keepsake. We can’t recommmend it enough.

This journal is so wonderful. I am 8 weeks into my second pregnancy, and I wish I had this two and a half years ago with my first child. It is broken down by each month, and in addition to the thought starters, there is plenty of room for notes. I’ve learned a couple of things since my first pregnancy (and this journal has places to note the things I didn’t note the first time around), such as exactly when I started wearing maternity clothes. Also, in the extra space I am writing about current events, so that when I look back in a few years I can remember exactly what was going on while I was pregnant. I also love that it has pockets and a place each month to put a photo of my belly, another thing I didn’t think to do the first time around. I can’t wait to fill it out as my pregnancy progresses. I would recommend this book to anybody in any pregnancy. Matter of fact, I wish I had this exact journal the first time around so I could compare notes.

No other time in my life has been as special as the times when I was pregnant. Butterflies and Hiccups beautifully illustrates the journey into motherhood, allowing YOU to be the author! Special moments and events can be recorded, safely to be remembered through the years. And what a wonderful gift to give to your baby when they are grown, but to read about your thoughts and feelings during the time they were growing inside of you. Laurie Wing captures the sweet essence of this special time with Butterflies and Hiccups. A must-have book for every mommy-to-be!

ARMY WIFE PREGNANT WITH #1 @ 5:28 am #

Well I have a journal that I write in and i usually write how I’m feeling and how the doc appointment went or maybe even what I bought for the baby. I also wrote how we told our mothers and when. I also have an online blog for family and friends to read, I usually put in what we bought, when and how we found out, in a week I’m going to put the sex of the baby. Just put things that stick out to you and that will be fun to read later on. Oh yeah you should also include pics!
